POV's
Please see below for a breakdown of various POV processes.
POV Turn In: How does it work?
1. If you are not storing a POV at government expensive when you arrived to Japan you are authorized to ship one POV under your new PCS orders. Please note: your POV cannot have any modifications to the engine/transmission.
2. Please come into our office first, we will provide and assist you in filling out your DD Form 1797 and VRO Memo for de-registration (hyperlinked to examples) needed in this process. Please bring a hard copy of your orders, and registration. When this process is complete you will need to gather other documents and submit them to IAL.
After our office does our part and before turning in your POV : Email Japan@ialpov.us with the following documents as well :

Japanese vehicle title.

IF POV is financed. Lienholder Letter. Authorizing shipment from Japan. Must be signed by Bank Representative.

1. Clear FULL photos of the front, back, left, and right of the vehicle exterior.
2. Picture of VIN plate
3. AND picture of the full engine block. Regardless of destination.

Marriage Certificate - IF the vehicle title/registration is not listed in your name due to marriage and if your spouse is not listed on your PCS orders.

EPA/DOT stickers required for US spec vehicles are not required for Japanese made vehicles over 25 years old.

Complete set of PCS orders and all amendments.

Vehicle Registration (Military / Base)

Passport photo copy or other form of picture ID that is NOT your military ID.

If you are not dropping off your car for shipment. The person chosen to drop it off must have:

1. Notarized Power of Attorney.
2. The POA must be submitted with all other documents.

IAL does not need information on foreign made POV's. Recall information is required for all US-spec vehicles from safecar.gov
